Resilience Research Conference in Germany

Last week I got to meet some of the world's top resilience scholars—and a mannequin of myself.

Also went on stage in three different states.

First stop: the International Symposium on Resilience Research in Mainz, Germany.

Had the chance to learn about the latest developments in the neuroscience of resilience. Even better, I got to talk to several renowned resilience scientists—researchers whose books I've read and whose work I've long admired—including luminaries like Ann Masten, Raffael Kalisch, Anne-Laura van Harmelen, Michèle Wessa, and more.

Over the same eight-day stretch, I also:

• Performed standup at an amputee charity event for Hanger Foundation at The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville

• Spoke at a corporate event at Garden of the Gods, Colorado

• Gave a keynote in Kansas City, Missouri and caught up with speaker pal Ben Nemtin

• Rarely changed clothes (I travel with a tiny backpack)

Joined at the Hanger Foundation’s Night of Hope by my beautiful wife Ashley.

As it happens, my costume creation partner Calen Hoffman also lives there. Before my speech, I visited his workshop, where he has a mannequin of my exact proportions. We put the finishing touches on this year's costume—stay tuned!
